William “Mike” Bracken was a pilot for the US Air Force in World War II. He was the husband to my great-aunt Vera, married in 1939. His plane was shot down and he was killed in 1944. My great-aunt Vera is deceased and all the memories and images shared in this post are from my grandmother. They did not have any children and from my grandmother’s recollections, Vera’s marriage to Mike were some of her happiest days.
